White Butte Minor Ball - Storm Softball
Date: February 2, 2025 6-9 pm - U13 (A and B team placements)
Date: February 3 or 4, 2025 7-10pm - U15 and U17 (A and B team placements)
Date: February 5 or 6, 2025 5-9pm- All ages U11-U17 Pitcher and Catcher Evaluations
Date: February 12 or 13, 2025 5-9pm - U11 (A and B team placements)
U19 Evaluations/Tryouts- Date TBD

***Please note any players outside of WBMB but still wishing to tryout for A, may do so (a release from your home association will be required prior to A team placement). In the event a player is not successful in making an A team they are required to return to their home association. A full refund will be issued for the registration less the $50 tryout fee***
What to wear/bring:
-Proper gym attire
-clean indoor running shoes
-ball glove
-Bat
-Helmet
-water bottle
-catcher gear (if you do not have catchers gear, we will provide you with a set for evaluation purposes)
Athletes should arrive 20 minutes prior to their start time for registration and warm up. Each athlete will be asked to sign in and a member of our board will aid them on pinning their evaluation number on their jersey. Pinnies must be returned once your player has completed their evaluation. You will not be placed on a team unless your pinnie has been returned.
Timed Run - Each athlete will be timed in a run from; Home - 1st. Each athlete will be given 2 attempts and their best time will be recorded.
Fielding - Each athlete will take part in multiple fielding drills:
Glove to glove time - where they will be timed from receiving a ground ball at the short stop position to making a throw to first base (that time will be scored accordingly).
Accuracy- the athlete will make throws during the glove to glove test and those throws will be scored based on accuracy.
Throwing/catching mechanics- athletes will be scored on their throwing and catching mechanics.
Ground ball fielding technique- athletes will be scored on their set up/approach to the ball, pick up, throwing strength and accuracy.
Fly ball technique- athletes will be scored on their setup/ approach to the ball and receiving technique.
Pitchers
Pitchers will be asked to warm up to full pitch, they will be evaluated on their mechanics, command and a velocity reading will be recorded.
Catchers
Catchers will be evaluated on their mechanics, framing, and blocking technic. They will finish off their catching evaluation with a pop time- timed throw from home to 2nd.
Hitting - All athletes will cycle through various hitting stations:
(1) tee work - multiple stations with different swing mechanics,
(2) Front toss and
(3) Exit Velocity
(4) Bunting mechanics (U13, U15 and U17)
Each athlete will be evaluated though out each station and should remember that evaluators are watching for attitude and effort as well as skill.
‘A’ TEAM SELECTION- U11, U13, U15 and U17 ONLY
Based on the evaluation scores from the Hitting and Fielding portion provided by the trained evaluators at 222's Fastpitch each athlete will be ranked. Once final registration numbers for each age division have been established the following selection process will apply. After the top 8, 9 or 10 etc. athletes have been identified, the head coach along with the division coordinator will select 3 athletes from the remaining athletes to complete the roster. For example, if the final team number is 12, the top 9 scored athletes will be placed on the A team. The final 3 athletes will be chosen at the head coaches’ discretion and through the guidance of the division coordinator. There will be two A teams formed in the U11 division
INJURY FOR PLAYER EVALUATIONS
It is mandatory that all injured players will require a doctor’s note advising when they are cleared to participate. Players who are injured and cannot participate in our evaluation process will use the following criteria for which tier and team the player will be placed on. The Storm Softball Division Coordinator will be responsible to collect information related to the player including but not limited to the following: 1. Player evaluation from previous year 2. What Tier and team did the player play on the previous season 3. Get input from previous seasons Head Coach as to where the best development opportunity might be for the player 4. Due to the limited length of the softball season, a reasonable return to play timeline must be establish prior to placement. Final decision will be based on the findings of the Division Coordinator and the Head Coach.

Due to the limited length of the softball season, a reasonable return to play timeline must be establish prior to placement. Final decision will be based on the findings of the Division Coordinator and the Head Coach.
